Broadvox DirectWhat happens if I am not able to maintain my current phone?

Broadvox Direct will allow you to select another number of your choice.

telephone adapterCan I connect my telephone adapter to all of the phones in my house?

If you plan on distributing your Broadvox Direct connection using your existing phone wiring, it is important to know where your demarc is so that you can disconnect your house wiring from the PSTN. Failure to do so can irreparable damage to your Telephone adapter.

First, locate the demarc point. The demarc, short for Demarcation Point, is the point at which operational control or ownership of communications facilities changes from one organizational entity to another. In a residential environment, the demarc is the point where the PSTN (Your traditional phone company) connects to the wiring in your house. It may take the form of a box stuck to the side of your house or a common wiring area in an apartment complex.

Once you have disconnected your house wiring from the PSTN, simply plug your Broadvox Direct line into your house wiring. Provided the phones in your house have a total REN of 3 or less (each device has a REN number printed on the bottom), all the phones in your house should be usable.

Broadvox DTABroadvox DTA Capabilities, Broadvox New DTA2102T

Key Features:

  • PSTN-quality voice over IP
  • Two Simultaneous compressed calls. This means less bandwidth and higher quality of service for two line installations.
  • Additional Ethernet port for PC or LAN connection
  • PPPoE client
  • Transparent IP address sharing
  • Priority of voice over data
  • Interoperable with equipment from leading industry vendors
  • Fax over IP support, including T.38
  • Multiple codec support
The Broadvox DTA2102T features two FXS ports and two 10/100 Base-T Ethernet ports. It can connect one or two analog phones or fax machines, and a PC or router to the Internet via a DSL or cable modem. The technology behind the Broadvox DTA2102T is referred to as Transparent Address Sharing (TAS). One of the advantages of TAS includes networking two IP endpoints without the need for an external router or a NAT device - reducing equipment costs and system complexity. Other advantages include effortless setup, which reduces end-user frustration and expensive technical support time, and enhanced security for the IP telephony device as the IP device is not visible to the outside world.

The Broadvox DTA2102T allows both Ethernet ports on the unit to be used with a single IP address from the broadband service provider. In other words, the Broadvox DTA2102T carries the same IP address as the PC or the router attached to it. Additionally, the Broadvox DTA2102T has local QoS, which prioritizes voice traffic over data. The device intelligently directs VoIP packets to the telephone sets and routes all other traffic through to the PC. For homes with multiple PCs, the DTA2102T is inserted transparently and conveniently between the router and the broadband modem, to take full advantage of the voice prioritization over data. In addition, the complexities associated with having a double NAT are eliminated as the Broadvox DTA2102T allows the use of a single IP address without address translation or private IP addresses. This deployment method insures that the Broadvox DTA2102T will not interfere with existing home networks, port forwarding, or any other configurations on a subscribers LAN. The Broadvox DTA2102T was built with horsepower to spare! Since the device was built from the ground up to support T.38, 10/100 MB ethernet, and two g.729 calls simultaneously you will find that the Broadvox DTA2102T will be free of the problems associated with less powerful DTA's that have been known to cause network traffic problems with presented with a load.
